After the news that a version of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge had been removed from the Walt Disney Studios Park long-term expansion plans at Disneyland Paris, 2 main rumours surfaced as its replacement Avatar or Lion King. However, with the recent announcement by Bob Iger and the success of “Avatar: The Way of Water” it now appears a version of “Pandora” may be winning the race and coming to Disneyland Paris!
After the expansion plans for Arendelle — World of Frozen takes inspiration from Hong Kong Disneyland and Avengers Campus is available in Disneyland Resort, we hoped a Lion King theme would be chosen as it would give the Walt Disney Studios park something unique to any other Disney park.
“A version of Avatar” will come to a Disneyland Resort.
However, during a Q&A session after the Disney’s Q1 2023 earnings call, Disney CEO Bob Iger stated that “we’re working bring a version of Avatar to Disneyland”. Given the timing of the comment, it seems likely that the project will be coming to the Walt Disney Studios at Disneyland Paris and complete the third empty expansion area.
