RUMOUR: Disneyland Paris to build a ‘Lion King’ or ‘Avatar’ Themed Land instead of ‘Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge’

After many months of speculation, it now appears that Disneyland Paris executives have confirmed that they are unlikely to move forward with a “Star Wars” themed land within the Walt Disney Studios at Disneyland Paris. The speculation began after Natacha Rafalski stated “we are still working on the third theme. We will make announcements about this when we are ready” when questioned about the 3rd land coming as part of the Walt Disney Studios expansion plans. According to some sources, Disneyland Paris is now currently considering building lands themed to either “The Lion King” or “Avatar”.

Is a Lion King or Avatar Themed land coming to Disneyland Paris?

The Lion King continues to be very popular at Disneyland Paris. Integrated into many entertainment offerings in the past, and now the theme to one of the most popular shows at Disneyland Paris “The Lion King Rhythms of the Pride Land” is no surprise they are considering this theme.

The Avatar franchise has also had success in France and with several new films planned to be released over the next decade, this could also be a great time to add the theme to the park. The film franchise is also well known within France and is currently their 8th most-seen film in box office history.

Which land would you prefer?

Between these options, it’s very difficult to say which land we would prefer. We are amazed at the visuals of “Pandora: The World of Avatar” and would hope the land would not be a clone of this, but take inspiration from it. A Lion King theme land would draw many guests from around the world and would differentiate the park from any other in the world. By giving Disneyland Paris something that cannot be seen anywhere else in the world would be fantastic for the park and its future and hope that the decision is not made on budgets alone.

No official announcement has been made, and we don’t expect anything in relation to the 3rd theme land to be displayed at the D23 Expo 2022.
